Book fair frankfurt

Design for the Dutch-Flemish pavillion at the Frankfurter Book Fair. This Dutch language guest landscape had to be as fluid, transparent and temperamental as the North Sea. Stratification, perception and stimulants for the imagination. The design is an imaginary ocean consisting of 2500 metres of voile. The layering and the semi-transparency of the voile creates a special effect of depth. The floor of the pavilion is ribbed, like the pattern left by waves on the sand. Paths fenced off by layers of transparent material are laid over the floor. This creates spaces that are seemingly cut out of the volume of voile. Spaces for theatre, a whispering gallery, studio, cinema, bar, etc.
